The Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Trumpet Teacher to join the Performing Arts team at Carey Baptist Grammar School. As a specialist in your field, you will work closely with Performing Arts colleagues to inspire and develop students’ musical skills, confidence, and passion for performance. This position supports the broader Carey Music program across both Kew and Donvale campuses.
Beginning Term 1 2026, 18.75 hours per week (0.5 FTE), 12-month fixed term contract.

The Average Day:
  • Provide professional, high-quality trumpet instruction to students of varying ages and abilities.
  • Support students in developing technical proficiency and performance confidence.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Performing Arts and departmental colleagues to deliver engaging programs.
  • Prepare students for performances, examinations, and ensemble participation.
  • Contribute to the vibrant culture of music at Carey through creativity and innovation.
The Person:
To be successful in this position, you will have:
  • Outstanding musicianship and proven trumpet performance expertise.
  • A passion for engaging young people in music education.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
  • Initiative, problem-solving skills, and a creative approach to teaching.
  • Ensemble skills an advantage.
A valid Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration or Working with Children Check is a requirement of employment in this position.
